F1 driver di Grassi joins forces with Addax Team

The Spanish GP3 Addax Team has reached an agreement with Formula 1 Brazilian driver Lucas di Grassi to form part of the group of minority shareholders and become part of the newly formed championship.

Di Grassi was involved with the Spanish team in the past when he drove for them in 2008, in the GP2 Series that season. He had a tremendous season finishing in 3rd position overall, making a great fightback due to the fact that he hadn’t even taken part in the first six races. Nevertheless, he was one of the key factors that ensured the team winning the constructor’s championship that season.

Alejandro Agag: “We are delighted to welcome Lucas aboard, although since his days as driver for the team in GP2 he has always been in close contact with us, which has made it all the easier for him to form part of this project, which has its sights set for a bright future. He is a young driver already consolidated among the world’s elite in this sport and this is why we are convinced that, with his experience and his serious and tremendously professional way of working, he will make an important contribution to the success we hope to achieve in the short term. More than a shareholder he is a valuable addition to the team.”

Lucas di Grassi: “I would like to thank Alejandro Agag for this opportunity to form part of this team that I already know so well, which makes it easier to back this project. I was very happy here and I achieved important objectives with them in 2008. Now I’m back to offer my services especially in the sports area. I’m looking forward to working on a Project which is a genuine platform for Young drivers and I will try to help them with technical and tactical preparation, give them information concerning the circuits, race strategy etc. The idea is to help these young talents make progress, as they are the future of motor-racing. I believe GP3 is the future of Junior formula as it precedes GP2 and it should get stronger each year.”
