GP3 and Dallara Award Winners 2012

27 SEP 2012

Trophy Time in Milan

Following the epic season finale in Monza, it was time to celebrate and reflect on a very successful 2012 GP3 Series with the annual Prize-Giving Ceremony which took place in Milan.

Newly crowned Champion Mitch Evans received his winner's trophy, with Daniel Abt collecting the silverware as Vice-Champion. Antonio Felix Da Costa claimed his trophy for third place in the Drivers Standings.

Lotus GP were crowned triple team champions with Frederic Vasseur showing his delight on stage, with MW Arden's Julian Rouse collecting the trophy for second position and Jamie Collins receiving the third place trophy for Carlin.

On the night eight Dallara trophies were also awarded which added to the fun factor of the ceremony. Some awards were pre-determined, whilst others were decided by which nominee received the loudest "support" as video highlights were shown during the party.

Dallara Best Winning Celebration : Winner - Antonio Felix Da Costa
For his infamous jump on the podium plus almost falling of his Carlin car during his excitement in parc ferme after his double win in Budapest.

Dallara Best Rookie: Winner - Daniel Abt
The Lotus GP driver finished just two points shy of GP3 Series Champion Mitch Evans in his rookie year to claim the honour of Vice-Champion 2012.

Dallara Best Take-Off: Winner: - Vicky Piria
Competion was close after Conor Daly's accident in Monaco Race 2, but it was Trident Racing's Vicky Piria who was victorious after the incident in Hockenheim Race 2.

Dallara Most Impressive Start of the Year: Winner - Tio Ellinas
The Marussia Manor Racing driver picked up the trophy after his fantastic start in Valencia Race 1 which saw him fly from fifth to first.

Dallara Best Jump Start: Winner - Daniel Abt
It was another award for the German, this time for his "lightning" getaway from sixth to first during Race 1 in Barcelona.

Dallara Best Self Promotion: Winner - Vicky Piria
The Italian driver was chosen by the GP2 and GP3 staff after gaining a vast amount of publicity this year including presenting an award for MTV.

Dallara Most Fastest Laps: Winner - Antonio Felix Da Costa
The Portuguese driver was king of the fastest laps earning six throughout the season.

Dallara Best Race Win: Winner - William Buller
Team Principals, Journalists and GP2/GP3 staff voted from a list of four contenders for Best Race win of the year. It was very close to call with Antonio Felix Da Costa winning by one vote over William Buller for his efforts in Budapest Race 2. However the Portuguese driver handed over his trophy to Carlin teammate Buller as he felt the Brit's stunning drive from last to first in Silverstone Race 2 was more worthy of the Dallara trophy. A lovely gesture which summed up the team spirit amongst the GP3 Series paddock.
