GP3 Series: Congratulations Mitch! Your third win of the season, tell us about your move on Abt for the lead?
Mitch Evans: "It wasn't a great start from myself, I got a lot of wheelspin and Daniel got me straight away. I was a bit annoyed about but I just put my head down and got on with it. I just tried to catch him and close the gap as I wanted to make the move but then the safety car came out. We were behind the safety car for a little while but it was good to know Vicky was ok. We went back to racing and I was on the attack straight away. I got a good draft and a good slipstream to the hairpin and he left the door open so I just made a move as that might be my last opportunity and it paid off. We were pretty strong for the remainder of the next one and half laps, we had a lot of pace so I was feeling really good, but then the next safety car came out. But I wasn't worried if it stayed out or came in as I felt good in the car so overall it was an interesting and different weekend. But the result was good and that's what matters."
GP3 Series: Tell us about Race 1 yesterday as that was a bit more tricky for you?
Evans: "Exactly, we made the wrong tyre call like a few others did on the grid. So that was our mistake. But we made up for it today. We had good pace in the wet but we had to fight hard to get the overall result in the points but it paid off. Overall we extend our lead in the Series which was our goal and to come away with a rac win is always nice."
GP3 Series: You have an 18 point advantage over Vainio plus you got the fastest lap today, that's a positive stamp of authority on the Series with three rounds to go?
Evans: "Fastest lap points was a big help, those two points are always crucial. This was a track I didn't know so I knew this weekend could be very challenging for me so to end u taking the lead in Race 2 was great. Next week I know the track well so I think we can be even stronger.
GP3 Series: P2 today, but you must be disappointed after missing out on a chance to win in Hockenheim after initially taking the lead?
Daniel Abt: "After the bad luck of yesterday, I made a pretty good start to pass Mitch and take the lead. I think I could have kept P1 after the first safety car phase but Mitch got a good slipstream and was able to pass me at the hairpin. With the second safety car I didn't get a chance to try and reclaim my lead so it was a very bad day for me. 2nd place is not what I wanted in this race."
GP3 Series: You have moved up to third in the Driver Standings and collected a good points haul, can you take any positives out of this weekend?
Abt: "My expectations were high after pole yesterday and starting on the front row today. I had the lead of the race and it was just so unlucky with the safety car situation. The car was really fast, we had good pace. This is a weekend to forget for me. I will just need to push in the next race and look forward. I got good points but it was the win I wanted in front of my home fans."
GP3 Series: Moving onto next weekend, do you feel you can make amends in Hungary?
Abt: "I have never driven at the Hungaroring, I have only driven it on the simulator but I think it will suit my driving style. I just want to move on and start afresh in Budapest and get my first win."
GP3 Series: P3 today Conor, another podium and more points, are you pleased with this result and how the weekend has gone?
Conor Daly: "Yes, I can't complain at all. It's so nice to have such a strong weekend without anything going wrong, no penalties and to get two podiums. We started up front and got good points for Race 1. Today was another good one, there wasn't much racing to be done today but I get the best start of my lifr and got myself up to third. That's all we could do really. I am really happy with it. We are now close to third in the championship so I am pleased to keep the momentum going from Silverstone andd hopefully get back to winning a race in the next one!"
GP3 Series: Tell us about your start as it was a great effort from seventh on the grid!
Daly: "I was fourth heading into turn two and I got Tamas Pal Kiss down the back straight and he tried to come back in the middle sector but he couldn't make it. So it was a mega lap one, it was a lot of fun!"
GP3 Series: If the safety car had not been out for the duration, do you think you could have fought for the win today?
Daly: "I don't know. I think for sure I could have challenged Daniel and I would have liked to have thought I could challenge Mitch too. Our cars were really fast and it's a new track for me so I think I would have been picking up the pace lap by lap and I believe Daniel would have been the same. I think we could have fought Mitch for the victory but that's motoracing, that's the way it is. We are ready for the next one! At least I have some experience in Budapest from last season. I like the place and if it stays dry or for us maybe it will snow or something (he laughs), I am really looking forward to it."
